Today's Airgunning Adventures.
« on: January 17, 2016, 04:44:50 PM »
The starlings have been back around my house for about a week. I have been picking them off here and there. I got up this morning and had a flock just 30 yards out. Grabbed a .25 Mrod and put a 25gr jsb through one.

The flock moved out into the bean stuble and I made another clean kill at about 125yards. The remaining starlings didn't spook and I was able to get another clean kill out near the 130 yard mark. Here is the field and the pair of dead starlings after a quick retrieval by my dog.

I promised my son a squirrel hunt today, so after some starling practice we headed to the farm after some fox squirrels. Unfortunately, the temps dropped from 24 to 17degrees by the time we got to the woods. We made a quick pass thru the woods, but the 21mph winds and snow had my son frozen in a matter of minutes. We have a nice heated blind back in the woods, so we made our way towards the blind. I spotted a big fox squirrel on the ground near one of my tree stands, but he was up the tree and in his den before I could even shoulder the .25.

Here is Gage enjoying the warmth of the blind.

The temps continued to drop and the wind just kept blowing. We did get to watch a number of cardinals, junkos, and bluejays before we called it a day and headed home. No squirrels, but always good to be in the woods!! As we returned home, there were a number of starlings in one of the hickory trees out back. I got out of the truck and grabbed the .25 out of its hard case in the bed of the truck. Loaded a mag, racked the bolt, and put down another starling from about 45 yards.

Another fun day airgunning and anytime spent in the woods with my son is a great one!!

Man, those are some sharp photos.  Looks like a ton of fun especially when you add your kid to the mix.  Nothing better than being outdoors with the kids.

GREAT SHOOTING!

Great photos and great shots!  There are very few Starling or Sparrow out here in the rural areas except for around those with some livestock.  I really need to find some permissions!!

Awesome when you can shoot/hunt with your kids or grandkids, enjoy your memories of those times.

Starling assassin you are!  Has rained in North GA for a week so they are safe here for a few more days. Looks like your hunting buddy is having great fun
