Texas is considering the taking of game animals with air rifles. Squirrels are the only game animals legal in Texas as of now. Other states already allow deer hunting with air rifles.
Please take the survey if you are a Texas resident and say yes to air gun hunting.

Lets don't forget, any non game animal can be taken with an airgun in Texas. I don't remember the whole list, but it includes feral pigs, armadillos, skunks, and coyotes.

Here in California we can take Coyote, non-native deer, Squirrel, Turkey and a bunch of other critters. I strongly desire to hunt deer and piggies with a couple .58 cal DAQs.

Why oh why does California consider feral hogs to be Game?

In every other state I am aware of, feral pigs are fair game 365. Hawaii does have a season for pigs, but they don't have the same issue as say Texas has. We're going to get back to where we were  a few year back, because the funding for the feral pig abatement program has been cur by 80%. All they really have to do, is change the game laws. New Mexico still charges to shoot varmints if you don't live here! Our politicians must be related to yours.

Mo dinero. A tax if you will. Mo money for mo tax collectors. A vicious circle that WE pay for.
If only we could have the State of Jefferson come to fruition.
Buncha BB guns that I don't get to shoot as much as I like. Building duck boats now that I'm "retired".

Pigs are not game animals here either. All the non-native animals can be shot but whitetail is native so no shootie.

There are two bills in the IL legislature that are important to airgunners:

1. SB2583 would remove all airguns from being classified as a firearm http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/BillStatus.asp?GA=100&DocTypeID=SB&DocNum=2583&GAID=14&SessionID=91&LegID=109560
Currently in Illinois, all airguns "over .18 caliber and 700fps" are treated in exactly the same way as a firearm.  So the owner must have an FOID, new purchases are supposed to have a 24-hr wait, interstate purchases must be handled through the FFL, etc.  I have been hammering for a year to get this changed.  My IL senator, Sam McCann introduced legislation, which is now assigned to a judiciary committee. Lots of folks are contacting their state congressmen to move this along.

2. HB4714  Would allow hunting deer with airguns in IL with .45 and larger caliber airguns. This is not only a great bill for airgunners, but for IL tourism in Illinois, which needs all the help it can get. IL is corn country and well known for generating some healthy bucks. http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/billstatus.asp?DocNum=4714&GAID=14&GA=100&DocTypeID=HB&LegID=109946&SessionID=91

Starting in Fall 2018, Whitetail Deer in Florida can be taken with any PCP so long as it is .30 or larger. The airgun must be a PCP. No .30 break barrels permitted.

Kentucky added airguns to their legal deer harvesting equipment for the previous 2017-18 hunting season. Restrictions are:
1. Minimum of .35 caliber
2. Must use expanding projectile (i.e. hollowpoint)
3. Must be charged from an external source (eliminates break barrels, pumpers, etc.)

Now to acquire a .35  :o

Way to go on the campaigning Bullfrog!

I'm glad I was able to meet up with my Parks and Wildlife guy and get the laws changed here. We are now able to hunt all furbearers along with most small game with air.  I think we want to go for turkeys next on the list for air rifle hunting.  In Montrose Colorado they're experimenting with air rifles and deer hunting for nuisance deer. At least we can hunt invasive birds year-round with just a hunter Permit card.

WE can hunt everything but Deer and Migratory game birds and turkey here in Indiana. I really want to hunt deer here with an airgun. Jealous of those states that can.
