First speed goat taken with an air rifle in Texas!
« on: October 01, 2018, 02:58:56 PM »
Congrats to Extreme .457 aka Chacho.  He harvested the first air rifle speed 🐐 of the year on September 29, 2018.  Why so special?  It may be the first legal air rifle take of it's kind in Texas.  Congratulations  my friend.  It was taken with his Extreme .457 at 73yds.  Pushing a Mr. Hollowpoint 280gr at 990fps for 609fpe.  Oh yeah!!!!!

Fantastic! We need more of this to bolster our position that airguns can be used successfully on big game.

Every time I bring up airgun hunting for big game over at the GTA a third of the responses are along the lines of "shhhhhhhh, don't rock the boat! We don't want to be regulated! Let's leave it status quo!".  I say hells bells, time to legalize deer, and pig hunting with big bores in California. No doubt my DAQs or Kevin's .308 will punch a hole right through a deer or pig. Plenty of power.

I have a Freedom 202 in 9 mm. Not very well made, kicks like a mule, loud even with a suppressor, and can only hold 2 inch groups at 50 yards. But... I've killed three feral pigs with it. They—the pigs—didn't know it wasn't a firearm, so they died anyway!

steveoh I agree.  Everyone is so scared, but what they don't realize is that the government already knows about us.  So they need to chill the heck out and deal.

Yes they do, Joe! The same scenario about using the term "silencer" is another gotcha for too many folks. This, at least, is one site, where that word won't get you banned, although suppressor is a better word.

Hey Fellas, Thanks for the Kudos!!! It was an exciting day!!
73yds pushing a Mr. HollowPoint 280gr HP @ 990fps
I love that gun, when we opened him up the HP had blown a huge hole in the heart, destroyed one lung, the Antelope was completely dead with in 5seconds!! The exit was next to his goober. Lol not a drop of meat was lost!!! This could not have been a better day.

Take care fellas

Was this a shot to the chest? I ask because I learn something with every new hunting adventure in the field or in my armchair.

I tried goat hunting and I must say, it works, if you know what to do. :)My friend had less luck and almost froze once when he tried to do it there, lol. These kept him warm there, though: https://under-the-open-sky.com/best-socks-for-hunting/. Next time I'll be going with him because he is still a newbie.
